After offering a brief description of the main features of today’s capitalism, it goes on to outline the contours of its hegemonic ideology, focusing on the reactionary phenomena (populist revolts in particular) that arise in reaction to social antagonisms. The second half of the book deals with the two great emancipatory movements of 2011—the Arab Spring and Occupy Wall Street—before confronting, via a discussion of The Wire, the difficult question of how to fight the system without contributing to its enhanced functioning…” (From The Introduction, p. 3).
